The roof of any property, whether it be domestic or commercial, is without doubt one of the most important. A leaking or vulnerable roof can lead to more serious, long term problems such as decomposed timber work or other structural damage. Many homeowners make the mistake of spending time and money on internal refurbishment whilst neglecting the exterior of the premises. A fully protected roof is primary to protecting your property and its value.
If you are moving house or considering a property purchase, the condition of the existing roof should always be an important consideration. Your surveyor will usually comment on its condition in their report but are often a little apathetic and may not cover all the necessary details. As dedicated roofing contractors, we can look at the roof and give you a truthful and impartial assessment, followed by a detailed quotation for any work (non-obligatory).
Many roofs can be kept going almost indefinitely with repetitive maintenance. However, there comes a time when you need to consider a replacement. There will usually be an unwanted amount of dampness within the roof space, which can lead to problems with decomposing timbers and structures. There is also the risk that a severe storm may exploit any weaknesses overnight and leave you with larger roof problems to deal with. A new roof is a major investment but one that will add value to your property and save you money in the longer term. It makes sense to amend your roof appropriately before spending significant amounts of money on internal refurbishment. Frank Bird Roofing will provide you with a detailed assessment/quotation and allow you to consider all the available options in your own time before committing to any work.
Roof Repairs - Planned
Most properties need some on-going maintenance. If you have any concerns regarding your roof, we will take a look and assess what needs amending. If minor repairs are needed, we will advise you accordingly. However, if more extensive work is needed, we will give you a detailed breakdown whereby you can gain enough accurate advice to make a knowledgeable decision. We can also advise you in relation to work which needs doing urgently and what can be delayed to spread the cost.
Roof Repairs - Emergency
Frank Bird Roofing provides a call out service to deal with storm damage and other emergencies. We will put temporary measures in place to ensure no further damage is caused to your property. We can then do a more detailed assessment (based around the call out service) to help you with any insurance claims and get your roof repaired. Ensuring your roof is watertight should be your first priority – please call us as soon as possible. Frank Bird Roofing advise all clients to check their insurance policy, as it may not cover all costs.
If you are involved in a self-build, conversion project or new build – we can help. If you are in the early stages, we can arrange for a member of our surveying team to call out and provide you with all the advice you require. Then, if you are happy with the remarks given by the surveyor, a quotation for the roof covering (based on your architect's plans) will follow in due course. Frank Bird Roofing will also provide expert advice on the options for materials and construction methods. If you are doing some of the construction work yourself, we can work with you on the specialist work required for the roof covering. If you are working with an external building contractor, we can work alongside them and take care of the roofing aspects of the project.
While the scaffolding is in place on your property, you may also want to take the opportunity to have the following looked at:
• Loft Insulation
• Roof Lights
• Soffit, Fascia and Bargeboards (in U.P.V.C or timber)
• Gutters and Downspouts (U.P.V.C or cast iron)
• Chimney Stacks, Pots and Ventilation
Frank Bird Roofing can undertake some of the 'Other Services'. However, if needed, we are able to work with another specialist contractor/sub-contractor. This can be included separately in your roof quotation. We are happy for other contractors to use our scaffolding (by agreement) but please be aware that they must carry the appropriate insurance.
